INDIVIDUAL SESSIONS
Because human beings embody a broad
range of physical, mental and spiritual capacities, there is no
single approach to breathwork that will serve everyone’s needs.
For this reason, our model focuses on personal profiling and assessment
in formulating a system that will address individual differences.
Some sessions will focus on restoring physical health, while others
focus on emotional healing and spiritual development.
What to Expect in a
Barratt Breathworks Session
You will find that a Barratt
Breathworks session is systematic, yet flexible. This allows you
and your breathwork practitioner to cover the essential elements
of breathwork therapy, while providing room for adjustments to respond
to your particular needs.

A
typical session is composed
of four segments, which are briefly described below:
• Customization
• Understanding
• Breathing and Mindfulness
• Integration
Customization
Each of your sessions is customized for your particular needs. If
you are new to breathwork, this customization is based on a confidential
questionnaire that you will complete upon arrival at the breathworks
studio, supplemented by a brief discussion with your practitioner.
If you are already in our program, the customization is based upon
your evolving needs and interests as they have developed during
earlier sessions.
Understanding
For your initial session, your breathwork practitioner will provide
a brief overview of the ancient history of breathwork therapy, and
a description of the unique characteristics of the Barratt Breathworks
model. You will then be invited into one of the therapy studios,
and asked to lie down on a massage table, fully clothed in a supine
position.
Breathing and Mindfulness
Your breathwork practitioner will guide you through a meditative
process designed to bring you into a state of relaxation. Then,
assisted by your practitioner, you will engage in breathing and
mindfulness practices that will address your particular needs, helping
you balance your emotions and facilitating healing and self-development.
Integration
Following the dedicated breathing and mindfulness segment, you will
proceed to the final element of your session, the “integration
period.” This part of the session is very important, because
it gives your body and mind the opportunity to adjust to the biological
and energetic changes that have occurred as a result of the breathing
and mindfulness segment. You can plan on your session lasting approximately
one hour and fifteen minutes.
The total number of sessions in which you will participate is entirely
dependent on your needs and desires. We have many clients who have
made facilitated breathwork sessions a part of their life routine,
returning to our studios on a regular basis month after month. Others
avail themselves of the benefits of facilitated breathwork on an
as-needed basis, to help them deal with the array of challenges
that life sometimes presents. Ideally, the goal of Barratt Breathworks
is to help you learn how to consciously work with the breath on
your own, thus providing you with a continuing life tool.
